Mac Outlook adds multiple time zones features – available to Insider Fast with Office 365 subscription

Outlook for Mac just gets more powerful for you to manage your time across different time zones. We have just shipped two of our most-requested calendar features: display second time zone on Calendar grid, and allow setting of start/end time zones in events.

These features are now available to Insider Fast in version 16.11(180214) and after. Enabling second time zone in Calendar grid requires an O365 subscription.

You can new add a second time zone on the calendar grid so you can easily refer. To show the second time zone, go to Outlook Preferences > Calendar, or by right-clicking the grid to see the second time zone options :Second TZ.png

To schedule an event with a start time and end time being in different time zones (for example, a flight across time zones), simply toggle on the “Time Zone” option via Ribbon, or via menu Message > Time Zone:

We would love to hear from you, so please provide feedback and report bugs via Help > Contact Support. If you would like to see enhancements and additions to this feature, (or Outlook for Mac as a whole), please vote for the idea on our UserVoice site (Help > Suggest a Feature).

Q. I am on the latest version of Outlook for Mac 16.11 (180214), but I am not seeing the new features.

A: We are gradually rolling out the release of second time zone on Calendar grid, it will be fully released to all Insider Fast soon. So stay tuned if you don’t see the new feature for now. Also make sure you activated Outlook for Mac with an O365 subscription license.

With virtual anteroom, quieting all or one participant, application sharing, and intelligent investigating, Teams meeting participants have better control of their gathering knowledge.

In conclusion, we haven’t overlooked the directors or help work area experts – with Call Analytics for Teams, we have likewise empowered them to screen assemble and conference quality and get point by point investigation for clients’ gathering and calling encounters.

This makes groups a flawless arrangement where you can impart and meet with anybody inside or outside your association – regardless of whether they are not a Teams client. With these changes, here are 9 hints to having more profitable gatherings with participants in and outside your association:

By default, all attendees who are not from your organization will arrive in a virtual lobby after which they will have to be admitted to join the actual meeting. In the future, an admin will have the option to update the settings to allow anonymous users to join directly without having to go into lobby.

#4 – Mute the noisy attendees.  Tired of hearing a dog barking? In large meetings (> 5 people), anyone who joins after the meeting has started, will join as muted thereby reducing noise in the meeting. Further, if you notice any noise from others, you can mute that person, or mute everyone, easily from the roster.   If someone has been muted, they’ll get a notification letting them know. They’ll be able to unmute themselves if they need to be heard. If you ever need to mute all the other participants in a meeting, head to your meeting roster and select ‘Mute all’. Everyone will get a notification and be able to unmute themselves if they need to.

#5 – Join a meeting or initiate a phone call without a plug-in.  Who has time for downloads?! You can now enjoy a plugin-less experience in a web browser where a meeting or a call just works!  You can simply go to from Edge or Chrome and to join a Teams meeting or from Edge to initiate a 1:1 call. Now, you are able join a meeting or call even when you do not have access to the Teams app through your desktop or mobile device.

Teams Meetings in Edge and Chrome. With this recent release you are now able to join a meeting from Edge with audio, video and incoming screen share.  If you are joining from Chrome, you can join a meeting with audio and incoming screen share –  joining with video via Chrome will be coming soon.

Teams Calling in Edge.  With this recent release, you are now able to initiate 1:1 calling from Edge including video, audio, and placing and receiving phone calls (phone calls in Teams require a user to have a calling plan from Office 365). 1:1 calling in Chrome is coming soon. Support for other browsers is planned for future releases.

#6 – Share only the essentials. Don’t want everyone reading your email when you share your desktop? With Application sharingyou can choose to share a specific window instead of your entire screen. Rest assured that your desktop screen, or notifications are not shared when sharing your content in the meeting.

Teams meeting desktop and application sharingTeams meeting desktop and application sharing

#7 – Let others get in the driver seat.  What happens when you see something someone else doesn’t? With Application Sharing, if someone is sharing their desktop, you can either request to have control of it or have the sharer give you control of their desktop.

#8 – Get help with Interactive Troubleshooting. Have you ever forgotten to unmute yourself before you made a great argument in the meeting?  With Interactive Troubleshooting, Teams will alert you if it detects you’re trying to speak but you are still muted.  This is the first scenario of many scenarios where Teams can proactively detect and advise attendees of common issues that may impact their productivity during a meeting.

Teams interactive troubleshootingTeams interactive troubleshooting#9 – View Call Analytics for Teams.  If you need to troubleshoot a user’s meeting as an administratorCall Analytics provides you and helpdesk professionals the ability to search for a Teams call history for a specified user calls and meetings to help troubleshoot issues with these experiences.

If a user is using both Teams and Skype for Business Online, we strive to have tools you leverage for Skype for Business also work on Teams.  With the preview of Call Analytics, all your users’ calls are in one place and we make it easy to identify which client was used. For each call, detailed metrics are provided that can help identify issues impacting the audio quality of the call or meeting. For more information about Call Analytics, please refer to: Set up Skype for Business Call Analytics, Use Call Analytics to troubleshoot poor Skype for Business call quality, and What’s the difference between Call Analytics and Call Quality Dashboard?

Bonus #10 – Try Teams or watch a demo. If you don’t already have Teams, we encourage you to try it out to day: also had a live demo of meetings during the February 1st , Teams On Air episode.  Guest Ruchir Astavans discussed and demoed the latest updates to Teams Meetings and Call Analytics.

Cortana causes you find abilities normally, so you don’t need to recollect the conjuring expression

Cortana as an individual computerized collaborator is extraordinary at keeping you on track with your duties or reminding you about your mother’s birthday. These capacities are surfaced normally in view of Cortana can comprehend client’s purpose. To conjure outsider aptitudes on Cortana, clients needed to state an extraordinary expression, called a summon expression, as domino “Open”, or “Approach Darksky for the climate one weekend from now”. This isn’t a decent client encounter for a partner since clients frequently overlook how to conjure an ability. We are glad to declare that clients can conjure outsider aptitudes on Cortana in an exceptionally common manner.

“Breaking obstructions… Pushing limits”

Cortana would now be able to keenly propose outsider abilities when a client approaches her for something. Updates to Microsoft 365 Secure Score

We have gotten a ton of criticism from the Tech Community on the best way to improve Secure Score and it is enormously refreshing by the group. While exploring your criticism and input from different associations, a couple of solicitations were coming up consistently. Some of what we have heard is around the normal score that you can look at yours against. What’s more, we heard that figuring out what security controls had changed and impacted the score where difficult to find. Today we are cheerful to share that we are adding several upgrades to Secure Score to help with this.

Many of you like the idea that you can compare your score to the average score of all Office 365 tenants. However, some have concerns about the relevance of this to your organization. Based on this feedback we have a new average for you to compare against. The average seat size score shows you a score based on organizations that have a similar number of Office 365 active seats. There are seven seat size groups that we put everyone in, 0-5, 6-99, 100-249, 250-999, 1,000-4,999, 5,000-19,999, and 20,000+. For example, if you have 1200 active seats of Office 365 we will show the average score of other tenants that have active seats between 1,000 and 4,999.

Coming soon we will present an industry normal score, this will demonstrate to you how your score analyzes to different associations that have assigned a similar industry in Secure Score or the Service Assurance page of the Security and Compliance Center.

Another upgrade we are including is around making it less demanding to discover how your score changed between two dates and what the effect was. Already you needed to tap on hold chart in the Score Analyzer tab to pick your date and after that take a screenshot or attempt to recollect what activities were finished as you tapped on another date in the line diagram. To make this correlation simpler, we have included a “Look at scores” alternative to the Score Analyzer tab.

Clicking this will allow you to select two dates that you would like to compare the scores on. Upon choosing the dates you will get a list of what controls changed between those dates, and whether the result caused an increase or decrease in the score.

Along the lines of making things easier, we know that finding controls in the action list can be a challenge when the list is long. To help find controls faster we are introducing a search field for the action queue. By typing characters in this field, we will filter down the view list to help you navigate to the actions faster.

And finally the reporting actions have had an overhaul. The reports in Azure have under gone a significant optimization in terms of making them easier to consume and more relevant. Previously when using the Azure classic portal there was a direct report and corresponding Secure Score control for that report. Under the new Azure Portal these reports have been consolidated. This blog post explains how the new mapping works and what the previous reports now map to.

Secure Score has been updated accordingly allowing us to reduce the number of Azure report controls to two (whilst still allowing the same points total). These updated controls now take you to the updated Azure Portal.

If you want to check out all these new features, head over to now. As always thanks for all the feedback and keep it coming!

SharePoint pages and image editing updates in Microsoft office setups 365

At Ignite 2017, we declared the following flood of development coming to SharePoint pages to give quicker time to creation, improved control of content and pictures, expanded advancement alternatives, remarking and likes, and perceivability on how your substance is getting along. You are responsible for your message. Make it and get it out there to bring issues to light and engagement all through your organization.

We’re pleased to share that the below features and updates are rolling out to Targeted Release Office 365 customers. Expect them to appear within the coming days and weeks. And soon, beyond Targeted Release, they release to the full production environment. You can track release progress on the public Office 365 Roadmap; note this link is filtered on “SharePoint” items.

Let’s dive into the details.

Start from existing page

Don’t start from blank! If you have a series of pages you’ve created with a similar layout and design, you can now go to an existing page and use it as a quick start to create a whole new page – but with a head start. From an existing page, click New and then select Start with a copy of this page. The service will create the new page, and you simply jump into updating with new text, images and content updates, with layout, design and common text already in place. And per user feedback, pages (and news) have an improved canvas experience when adding and managing multi-column sections – it is more discoverable where and how you add a new section or web part – with less overlap of “+” buttons.

From a page or news article, click New > "Copy of this page" to start from an existing page. From a page or news article, click New > “Copy of this page” to start from an existing page.

Make your text appear more like you like – rich text editing (RTE) updates

A standout amongst the most imperative parts of any powerful page or news article is the content. Furthermore, setting the correct setting close by the sight and sound perspectives you pull in. We’ve heard you boisterous and clear that you need to have a more prominent arrangement of alternatives to influence your message to emerge. Wish conceded!

When you include a Text web part, the installed rich content tool now gives you more noteworthy control for how your content shows up. From the inline basic charge bar, you can modify measure, strong, underline and separating. Also, the genuine, new, enchantment of the Text web part lies behind the ovals on the correct side of the straightforward summon bar. Tapping the ovals opens a more extensive arrangement of decisions – demonstrating all alternatives in the alter sheet, similar to text style, hues and features, indent, strikethrough, and the capacity to make and oversee tables. You, as well, can include a connection – which now has a page picker experience to include existing SharePoint content rapidly.

You can add more color and emphasis to your text within a Text web part, including table creation and editing. You can add more color and emphasis to your text within a Text web part, including table creation and editing.

Image web part now allows editing and photos from Bing

You can easily add an image to a SharePoint page or news article, and now when you do, you can further edit (crop/zoom) it inline to fit the needs of your page/news and layout. You can pull in an image from online (powered by Bing) that are tagged as Creative Common license to enhance your pages and news. Once your images are on the page, you can edit them in line with simple gestures like adjusting the ratio and cropping.

Within an Image web part, tap on the image to bring up a selection of inline image editing tools.

Further promote your pages and news

Beyond your core team, it’s important to then amplify and spread the word proactively about your important content. This is now a one-click action. From an existing page, click the Promote button and choose how you want to increase the reach and impact of your message. You can add a page (or news article) to the site navigation. Or post a page as news to have it automatically flow into the site’s home page, the SharePoint home news section and the SharePoint mobile app News tab. You can kick start an email to a person or group with a preview of the page and an optional message to your selected recipients. Or simply grab a link to the page. Note, the Post as News on this site button may be grayed out if the page you are wanting to promote is already a news article. Also, the first time you publish your page, you’ll be prompted to help others find your page with the same promotion pane.

Clicking the Promote button at the top of the page (or news article) brings up the promotion pane to the right.

 Page usage Likes, Views, Comments

Once your information is out there, you want to know how it’s doing. Like the Site usage page – which gives site owners a view on how their users are interacting within the site, we introduce a similar view on information at the individual page and news article level.

At the bottom of each SharePoint page or news article you’ll see a row of information that tells you how many people have liked your content, how many left comments and total number of views. When you hover over the liked section, you’ll see a list of colleagues who like your ideas. And when you click on comments (and you left commenting on), you’ll jump right into the section at the bottom of the page to read feedback and engage with your audience. It, too, is now possible to click the like icon on an individual comment.

Page usage information (Likes, Views and Comments) appear at the bottom of each page or news article.Page usage information (Likes, Views and Comments) appear at the bottom of each page or news article.

We are always open to feedback via UserVoice and continued dialog in the SharePoint community within the Microsoft Tech Community —and we always have an eye on tweets to @SharePoint. Let us know.
